Topping cycle application

Gas turbines may also be used to boost the capacity, increase the overall efficiency and improve the emission balance of an existing conventional power plant. In this case the heat of the gas turbine exhaust gases is used to preheat feed water or the gases are directly used as an oxygen source for the main process replacing part of its combustion air. AE&E reference plant of Weisweiler is an example for such application.
