AE&E’s refuse derived fuel fluidised bed boilers is the perfect solution for industries who require a technology for the combustion of high calorific residues. Refuse derived fuel (RDF) is produced by processing municipal solid waste, it consists largely of high calorific residues of municipal waste such as plastics. This unique fuel however presents several special challenges for the boiler design due to high content levels of heavy and non-ferrous metals, high chlorine levels and a high amount of inert coarse particles.
> Adiabatic combustion chamber
> Radiation pass and horizontal back pass
> Bed material heat exchanger
AE&E’s development and experience with RDF firing in fluidised bed boilers extends back to 1995, with operating plants in Germany and Austria. AE&E’s boilers are designed to generate steam using only RDF fuel, however full load can also be achieved with a backup fuel such as coal or fuel oil.
