Fluidised bed combustion is characterised by thorough mixing of the fuel in a dense cloud of heated solid particles under controlled temperature conditions. This excellent mixing leads to improved heat and material transfer during combustion allowing various fuels to be fired simultaneously in the same boiler. A wide variety of coals can be combusted, as well as clean biomass and many other forms of fuels, such as biofuels, waste wood, sawmill residues and green wastes.
AE&E has successfully designed and built fluidised bed combustors for Refuse Derived Fuels (RDF) and developed a special Copeland reactor for thermal treatment of industrial and sewage sludges.
The general advantages of our fluidised bed systems are:
AE&E offers 4 types of fluidised bed technologies, distinguished by capacity, fuel and the industrial application.
