Thermal waste treatment is efficient, but it does generate innocuous residues that if properly handled do not emit any pollutants into the environment. These substances include grate bottom ash, i.e. bed ash and fly ash, as well as residues from flue gas scrubbing. A number of proven processes can be deployed toreduce the volume of such substances and recover reusable resources from them.
