AE&E Austria starts year with € 85 million contract for a RDF-fired steam generator in Germany

We are pleased that AE&E Group has extended its recent run of large contract wins into the new year. AE&E Austria has won an order from EnBW Energy Solutions GmbH for a RDF-fired steam generator for the heating plant at Germany’s largest corrugated base paper mill, in Eisenhüttenstadt. The contract is worth about EUR 85 million.

Following record order intake and order backlog in 2008, this contract marks a highly promising start to 2009. This order involves manufacturing the world’s largest RDF-fired circulating fluidised bed boiler (Powerfluid® technology) which will have a steam generation capacity over ten percent above that of comparable plants in Germany.

The order awarded to AE&E Austria comprises the engineering design, supply, installation and commissioning of a RDF-fired steam generator, as well as ancillary equipment including the extra light heating oil storage facility and a selective non-catalytic reduction (SNCR) flue gas denitrification unit. The heating plant in Eisenhüttenstadt will have a rated thermal input capacity of 150 MW, and will be fired with refuse derived fuels, coarse and fine rejects (waste materials) and sewage sludge. Handover of the steam generator is expected to take place in the spring of 2011.
